Love You to Death is the new 8th studio album by Canadian indie pop/pop duo Tegan and Sara which is expected to release via itunes on June 03rd 2016. That’s about all anyone knows! They’ve shared a couple photos teasing the album artwork, with the full cover to be revealed tomorrow (March 11). The duo’s been tight-lipped about the direction of the material, but if we had to venture a guess, well, that eye makeup is giving off serious new wave/New Romantic vibes.
The band’s eighth studio effort to date was produced by Greg Kurstin, known for his work with pop darlings like Adele, Sia, and Charli XCX. The first single is expected to arrive on April 8th.
The duo remained connected to their fan base by introducing a mailbox at shows where fans can leave the band notes and letters and reconnect.
This project full produced by Greg Kurstin serves as the follow-up to their acclaimed 2013’s album “Heartthrob“, that moved the duo fully out of the festival-indie ranks and into the straight-up pop world.
“It’s a pretty straight forward pop song about a relationship I was getting into with a girl who had never dated a girl before,” Sara Quinn said. “She had a guy she was sort of seeing and we used to joke around she was treating me like her boyfriend and I was trying to get her to tie it down. I think that’s pretty relatable. Obviously being gay and the bit of a gender twist in the song. I get that doesn’t seem immediately relatable to everybody whether they’re straight or whatever. But this idea that we’ve all been in that situation where we really like someone and want to make it official and they’re not ready, that’s what the song is about.”
